Abstract
The results of a preliminary study on the incidence of heartrot in Acacia mangim showed that the overall percentage of infection ranged between 11. 7 to 29.3 %. The proportion of heartrotted trees was greater in higher diameter classes. Decay is possibly caused by an unknown white rot fungus of Polyporaceae family. The implication of the results of this preliminary study on the management of A. mangium plantations in Malaysia is discussed.
