Abstract
Oil palm plantation management activities are rapidly being influenced by the Information and Communication Technology ICT. The availability of hardware and software of Geographic Information System GIS Global Positioning Systems GPS Decision Support System DSS and Remote Sensing RS have opened new opportunities of practicing precision agriculture PA on oil palm plantation management. PA uses precise information of location and agronomic conditions of the oil palm field and their relationships with growth and yield to increase production by accurate and efficient use of inputs sustaining soil fertility and realizing the potential oil palm yield. PA is environmental friendly and will be an important factor in the implementation of good agricultural practices GAP standard for oil palm management. Currently the implementation of PA in oil palm plantation is at various stages with methodologies concentrating on oil palm fertilizer requirements.
