Abstract
As one of the fastest economic growing countries in Asia, China has shown a great potential in detergent and soap market. With variety officially authorized statistics, this paper pres ems current situation of China's detergent and soap market, product structure. mar manufacturers, as well as import & export data offered by Chinese Custom. All above sho» that China's detergent and soap products are still mainly in lower grade companying fierce competition, and multi-national companies have gained more market shares in China. so the China's market is under the process of reshuffling. In the aspect of import & export. the import volume is still in strong increasing situation and much larger than export volume. Te main import products are focused on fatty alcohols and oils & fats. In the second part of this paper, the market and technology developing trends are presented and analyzed. The result of analysis indicates that detergent will continue to increase annually in next decade, and competitive measures rely on promoting product quality and setting up brand's reputation. Moreover, with the pressure of energy and environmenl protection, the technology development will make much more effort in development ana application of new surfactants, especially in technology with natural oils & fats as rr+ materials, also will highly strengthen international technical exchange and cooperation developing space to detergent and soap market and quick progress of detergent and soap industry. In the previous decade China's detergent and soap industry has made obvious progress and shown great developing potential, but the competition of market in the future will be very intense. There are not only opportunities to develop but also challenges of competition for the market of detergent and soap in China
