Abstract

Texture analysis can be used for the segmentation of remote sensing images. Our main interest lies in the problem of identifying land type with Landsat TM data. The particular problem concentrated on in this paper is the choice of texture measures. Region growing is used to investigate the discriminatory power of Haralicks 1979 texture measures. This paper will give a brief explaination on Haralicks gray level co-occurences matrix GLCM. We use entropy contrast angular second moment and correlation from the GLCM as texture measures and simultaneously employ the idea of region growing and thresholding to investigate the usefulness of these texture measures. The experiment were done on 6 differen classes of texture found in Chukai Terengganu using Landsat imagery band 3 4 and 5.
