Abstract

A lubricating grease is a solid or semi-solid lubricant consisting of a thickening agent in a liquid lubricant. Palm-based materials can be used in the preparation of grease as thickener and also as base fluid. Palm fatty acid can be converted into lithium to be used as thickener. The properties of grease produced using these palm-based thickeners will be described. Secondly the palm oil could be used as the base oil to substitute mineral oil in the grease. The properties of this grease are also described. This type of grease is useful for food industries because it is non-toxic.
