Abstract

A drip chemigation system was designed and installed for tobacco on bris soil. The system was evaluated for it effectiveness in applying water liquid fertilizer and soil pH adjuster on the perfomance of flue cured tobacco. The study reveal that drip irrigation system saved about 44 of irrigation water compared to sprinkler irrigation system. The results also indicated that drip irrigation required less labor compared to the traditional sprinkler irrigation system and has greater flexibility for timing of fertilizer application. The yield from fertigated plot was significantly higher than manually applied standard fertilizer plot.
