Abd. Razak O., . (2002) A preliminary growth assessment of dendrocalamus asper for shoot production. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
The bamboo shoots of Dendrocalamus asper locally known as buluh betung is widely consumed. Most of the shoots production is harvested from wild stands. Due to its importance trial plots established assess its growth and shoot production. The results indicated that D.Asper regenerates better in terms of culm and shoot production under open and border planting as compared to under planting with oil palm trees. Application of mixed organic compound fertilizer also enhances shoot production as compared to control.
