Mohd Khalid M.Z., . (2002) Some potential clones of soursop Annona muricata L. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
Eight clones of soursop Annona muricata L. were evaluated at three MARDI stations namely Bukit Tangga Kedah zone 1 Jerangau Terengganu zone 2 and Serdang Selangor zone 3. The growth of all the clones was vigorous and borne fruit in the third year was 5-10 fruits per tree and increased to 20-25 fruits per tree in the 10th year. Three clones DB1 DB2 and DB3 were identified suitable for processing and two clones DB4 and DB8 with higher TSS total soluble solid could be considered for fresh consumption. Although under natural conditions it may not be commercially viable for large scale planting due to its low yield soursop is popular among the local and consumed fresh. The perennial fruit tree can also be an important plant for agrotourism whereby it is integrated with other perennial trees.
