Abstract
Coconut is the next important commodity after rice among several natural sources that can give benefits and fulfill basic needs of villagers. However there are only few people who consider and concern on how the systematic processed as foodstuff. The coconut is plucked from its tree by a group of coconut picker sekeha ngalap nyuh and the group consists of three kinds of worker: a coconut picker tukang ngalap b coconut collector tukang nuduk and c coconut carrier tukang suwun. The coconut carriers do their job by placing on their head the basket loaded by -25 coconuts weight -24 kilograms and they travel for -500m in the farm area with declivity of 10-25. This condition makes the workers feeling tired catching breath taking a break often in the middle of the way or resting too long at the finla collecting post. After they finish working they always feel waist pain stiffness in their whole body especially legs and neck. Seeing on the workload measured by examining heart rate frequency that equals to 126.24-14.10 pulse/minute this activit can be categorized as excessive work. The score of fatigue is 64.10-15.29 and musculoskeletal complaint is 56.25-7.44. Total ergonomics can be applied in this sector for it improves the life quality of workers thus workload fatigue and musculoskeletal complaints can be minimized to generate up the work productivity. The exprimental study used subject design that involved 20 samples chosen simple randomly on the population of coconut female carriers in Banjar Semaja Antosari Tabanan-Bali. The data was analyzed by t-paired test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank test on significance level of 5. The result showed significant decreases of workload fatigue musculoskeletal complaints and increase of productivity p0.05. Happened degradation of work load fatigue sigh of musculoskeletal and improvement of productivity. Thereby can be concluded total ergonomic approach is reducing work load measured based on working heart rate equal to 25 51 or from extreme work load category to weight work load category: reduces fatigue equal to 53 97reduces sigh of musculoskeletal sugh equal to 25 24increase productivity equal to 48 0.84 thereby can be told can increase the life quality on coconut conveyor worker woman at neighbourhood of Semaja Antosari Tabanan Bali. In other words the total ergonomic approach can improve the life quality of coconut female carriers in Banjar Semaja Antosari Tabanan-Bali.
