Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of MSD among rubber tappers. Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire NMQ Dicjinson et al. 1992 was used for this investigation. Forthy-three rubber tappers 10 females and 33 males from northen part of peninsular Malaysia participated in this study. Results indicated that lower back had highest prevalence of MSD within previous one year among rubber tappers with 74.4 followed by shoulder 53.5 neck 48.8 and wrists/hands 48.8. Similarly within previous 7 days the prevalence was the highest for low back with 67.4 followed by others. Another result indicated that 15 respondents 34.9 reported that prevalence of MSD had prevented them from performing regular activities within the last 12 months.
