Abstract
Risk of musculoskeletal disorders is highher in agricultural workers because of the longer working hours and undefined postures at work. This study analyzes the postural stress and musculoskeletal problems of the farm women while performing weeding and top dressinh of fertilizer activities. Ninety farm women were the sample of the study. The mean age of the agricultural women selected was 31.51 years and 34.67 years with the mean height of 152.04 cms and 150.03 cms and the mean body weight of 45.19kgs and 43.77kgs for weeding and top dressing of fertilizer activities respectively. Majority of the egricultural women were in the normal body mass index range. Women used squatting and bending postures for long hours while weeding and top dressing fertilizer activities respectively. Majority of women complained Moderate pain in shoulder joint 26.66 and low back 17.77 knees 15.55 and upper leg/thigh 13.33 while performing top dressing of fertilizer activity. The bending postures with a load of fertilizer increased the fatigue and drudgery of farm women while top dressing of fertilizer. Weeding and top dressing of fertilizer were classified as light and moderately heavy activities respectively.
