Abstract

A study on growth of Tectona grandis Jati plantations on different soil types which are Pedu lateritic in Jalan Ahmad Senapi Kaki Bukit limestone in Jalan Empangan Tasoh and Nangka alluvial series in Jalan Semadong Perlis was conducted. The average height and diameter growth of the teak stands which were planted in 1999 were 10.92 m and 30.9 em in Jalan Ahmad Senapi 16.66 m and 43.9 cm in Jalan Empangan Tasoh whereas in Jalan Semadong with 16.07 m and 52.5 cm. Plantation in Jalan Ahmad Senapi has showed a significant difference with Jalan Empangan Tasoh and Jalan Semadong in terms of height growth. However tree stands in Jalan Empangan Tasoh and Jalan Semadong dont show significant difference between them. Meanwhile for diameter growth all sites have showed a significance difference among them. Besides nutrient aspects favourable physical properties of site and proper establishment can also give better results in growth performance of Teetona grandis such as on Nangka soil series.
