Abstract

A study was conducted to verify and compare the effect of organic amendment on the antioxidant activity in organically and conventionally grown Brassica chinensi. Eight different treatments chicken dung goat dung bokashi EM bokashi mixed with EM IMO normal compost and chemical fertilizer had been used in the study. The free radical DPPH scavenging activity method was used in the determination of the antioxidant activity. The highest antioxidant activity was observed in Brassica chinensis treated with bokashi mixed with EM 66.56 while treatment using goat dung gave the lowest antioxidant activity 55.96. No major differences in the antioxidant activity were found between organically and conventionally grown Brassica chinensis.
