Abstract

Centella asiatica or pegaga is a creeping herb widely distributed throughout the tropics and very common in the Peninsular. Pegaga has been used in treating bronchitis asthma dysentery leucorrhoea kidney trouble arthritis as brain tonic and dropsy in many countries. This study involves investigations of macro- and micro-scopic characteristics gravimetric study and determination of main active constituents. The findings in this paper will serve as parameters for herbal standardization that will provide the basis of assurance efficacy and safety of the herbal product s derived from the plant.
