Abstract

United Plantations Berhad is the largest coconut seednut producer in the country. Since 2000 it has delivered 0.8 M MATAG hybrid coconut seedlings for the rehabilitation of coconut smallholdings. The MATAG hybrids have a yield production potential in excess of25 000 nuts per hectare under good agromanagement practices. However extension and advisory services to coconut smallholders is necessary to ensure achievement of high yields.
