Abstract

The daily dynamic population of Tabanids fly was studied in the months of August and September 2009 in the teaching farm of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Airlangga University Surabaya Indonesia. Three canopy traps were used to collect the Tabanids flies. The flies were collected at 0800h 1000h 1200h 1400h and 1600h. The Tabanids flies collection revealed that there were only two of species of Tabanids Tabanus rubidus and Tabanus megalops. The number of T. rubidus was more than T. megalops. The activities of T. rubidus increased from 0800h to 1200h; then decreased at 1400h and further decreased at 1600h. Similar trend was found in T.megalops. This research was conducted in the dry season where there was no rainfall during the period of study.
