Abstract

An ethnobotanical study was conducted from December 2009 to March 2010 in two aboriginal Temuan villages in Hulu Selangor district Selangor namely Sungai Jang Aboriginal Village and Kolam Air Aboriginal Village. A total of 34 plant accessions were recorded in Sungai Jang Aboriginal Village of which 28 species from 23 families were identified and six species yet to be identified. While 16 plant accessions were recorded in Kolam Air Aboriginal Village where 15 species from 13 families had been identified and one species yet to be identified. Only six species were commonly used by both villages. This shows a large difference in plant utilisation for medicinal purposes in the two Temuan villages surveyed even though they are located in the same district.
