Distinguishing characteristics of tropical rain forest in Borneo based on vegetation science and autoecology

Abstract

Characteristics of tropical rain forest was considered through growth analysis of potted seedlings of a rehabilitation project and vegetation survey in Borneo. The growth behavior growth rate selectivity of habitat and adjustability to environmental conditions varied significantly among species. The growth behavior and selectivity of some species in the phytosociological data related to habitat conditions from growth analysis of trees planted in experimental reconstructions. Higher ecological diversity in tropical rainforests permits forests not only with rich floras but also more complicated systems of species coexistence. Preservation and rehabilitation of tropical rainforests are necessary for sustaining high habitat-selective tree species.
