Abstract

Chemical modification was carried out on sesendok Endospermum malaccense using propionic anhydride and sodium formate. The samples were modified with propionic anhydride with sodium formate as catalyst at 10 and 15 concentration for 2 4 and 6 h reaction time. The effect of duration on the weight percent gain WPG of sesendok was determined. This study found that the WPG were influenced by duration and percentage of catalyst used.
