Abstract

Taman Negara Pahang Malaysia often receives threats from anthropogenic development that occurs along the boundary of the forest. With the influx of ecotourism and agricultural activities the extent of land clearing in adjacent to the forest boundary has been a major concern. Since the implication from these activities is not widely publicised the effects of edge have often been overlooked in the management and planning of national parks. The objective of this paper was to report a preliminary microclimatic measurements at the edges of forests in Taman Negara Pahang at Kuala Keniam. Future work will involve a comparison in microclimatic factors between forest edge and forest interiors and link them with vegetation parameters.
