Abstract

The peat swamp forest of Sg. Bebar Pahang is very much dwelled by the indigenous people from the Jakun tribe who still rely on the forest resources for their living. Local herbalist village elders and many members of the community were asked to name all plants which were commonly used in their daily life. 57 species in 52 genera and 38 families were recorded with various uses viz. food medicine spice oil poison ornamental fence firewood polish wrapper construction and ritual. Of these 12 species are medicinal 8 species are edible fruits 6 species are vegetables while the remaining species being multipurpose in use.
