Abstract

Forest canopy is one of the important but least known components of the rainforest. It has a large biodiversity provides resources for birds mammals and invertebrates in the forest and its surface area plays vital role in atmospheric processes and nutrient cycling in the forest. Much of the biodiversity in the canopy has not been explored and detailed in scientific publications. The objective of this paper is to review some medicinal resources from the forest canopy and to encourage more work in the canopy. This paper discusses the nature of forest canopies and its services to human. It also highlights some species with potential medicinal values. This paper concludes that many resources are unexplored and recommended that more work in the canopy should be undertaken.
