Abstract
Planting trees at residential areas plays an important role in beautifying and adding aesthetic values to a site. The choices of plant are based on values and their functions. A study has been done at Taman Sri Serdang residential areas in Selangor to determine and identify raw vegetables or ;ulam; trees that have medicinal values for residential planting based on a survey on four roads that were selected which involved 94 houses. Medicinal plants and herbs are chosen to be planted by the residential areas community due to their useful antioxidants characteristics. Of the 32 species selected which have medicinal values only 5 most common species of ;ulam; were identified. The percentage of the types of ;ulam; includes trees herbs and leaves and shoots were determined and selected based on parts used such as leaves fruits rhizomes flowers and barks. Besides these parameters such as the function of shade trees was also determined
