Abstract

Translocation studies using 14C Sucrose in Cv. Amrapali revealed that healthy panicles are more powerful sinks than malformed panicles right from bud initiation stage. There was no significant difference in the photosynthetic activity of the leaves in shoots bearing healthy and malformed panicles indicating that the source is not a limiting factor for the sink: development. Significant differences were observed in the photosynthetic efficiency of the leaves of floral malformation resistant and susceptible cultivars of mango. The photosynthetic activity was higher in Cv.Badhauran a resistant variety. as compared to other investigated suceptible cultivars.
