Abstract

Thirteen new hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria have been isolated from environmental samples in Labuan Crude Oil Terminal by using direct and enrichment technique at 30C on Ramsay agar. Nine of the thirteen strains were Gram positive coccus and rod. These strains were capable of growing in crude oil at various concentrations. Selected strains will be investigated for treatment of oil-sludge.
