Abstract
Oil palm trunk used in the study was supplied by Malaysian Palm Oil Board MPOB Serdang. After bark removal the trunk was further processed into small blocks and fed through the disc fiaker to produce particles. The particles were then airdried for 2 days to reduce the moisture content and ovendried for another 48 hours. Three layer oil palm boards were produced using urea formaldehyde as binder. Face and back particles were sprayed with 10 12 14 resin while core was maintained at 10 resin content. A 1 wax content was also added. The oil palm board was hot-pressed at 165C for 6 minutes. Results of the board testing shown that with increasing resin content all the mechanical and physical properties were improved significantly. However all board properties does not meet the minimum requirement of the BS 5669.
