Abstract

This paper discusses initial results in utilizing oil palm trunk for the production ofLaminated Veneer Lumber LVL. Efficient use of such residues is vital in order to minimize the environmental burdens and increase the future growth of Malaysians palm oil industry. Experimental LVL from oil palm trunk veneers bonded with Polyvinyl acetate PVAc Emulsion Polymeric Isocyanate EPI with Toluene and EPI without Toluene were produced with two adhesive spread levels; 250g/m2and 500g/m2 The physical and mechanical properties were then accessed and compared with LVL made from wood.
