Abstract

This European Community EC funded project outlines the establishment of various mapping populations and the construction of genetic linkage maps in coconut. The paper covers current efforts to map candidate genes for plant development homeotic genes and biotic stress resistance ER genes on the coconut map SNPs and also to investigate the possible synteny of the coconut and oil palm genomes which in both species are organized into a diploid set of16 chromosomes.
