Citation

Soiman Jahed, . (1995) Guidelines in timber construction: fire safety aspect. [Proceedings Paper]

Abstract

This paper discusses the criteria of preplanning for fire in buildings which can help designers build with safety in terms of fire protection. These include understanding of the properties of timber related to fire, stages in the development of a fire in building and the effect on the materials used, the combustibility of the material, its ignitibility. surface spread of flame, building regulations, design problems and use of fire retardant treatments. Design consideration parameters are also outlined.
