Masri M., . (1996) Multiple - T system: a potential plant form for closer planting of mangosteen. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
Suitable plant form is important in the development and success of closer planting of mangosteen. A new plant form was successfully developed by systematic training of the lateral branches. The branches were trained and supported on wood stakes as horizontal cordons. Through similar training process the resulted plant fonn resembled multiple-T structures with horizontally arranged lateral branches. With this form it is anticipated that mangosteen can be planted at spacing as close as 2 m within rows. Early growth performance of mangosteen plant strained with the Multiple-T system are comparable with the untrained control plants.
