Abstract

The effects of various concentration of Fruitone Sodium 2-3 chlorophenoxy propionate applied at 120 days after flower induction were studied on Gandul cultivar. The main objective was to find the optimum dosage of application in order to obtain maximum yield. Results of the study indicated that the optimum dosage of Fruitone application was 1 ml per litre of water. Average of the maximum fruit weight was 1.68 kg. Fruit qualities were affected by Fruitone application. Increasing rates of Fruitone reduced total soluble solids TSS thus the sugar content. However fruit acidity increased as the rate of Fruitone application was increased. Treated fruits were generally larger than the control. They also had smaller crown size. However harvesting period was delayed due to the delay in fruit maturity.
