Abstract

The Near Infrared Spectroscopy NIRS method has been used to determine the total soluble solids content in Irwin mangoes through our study. Authors tried to expand NIRS tequnique to other varieties of mango for determination of the total soluble solids content. The highest multiple correlation coefficient MR between NIRS and chemical analysis in Keitt and Sensation mangoes were 0.94 and 0.91 respectively and the standard error of calibration SEC were 0.57 and 0.64. The bias-corrected with the standard error of prediction SEP were 0.88 and 0.48. The result of the NIRS suggests a very high feasibility to predict the total soluble solids content of Keitt and Sensation Mangoes. The calibration curve should be applied to each variety.
