Abstract

The consumption of A. intrusa is often associated with soft feces and diarrhea in grazing ruminants raised under plantations. An experiment had been conducted to determine if there was any tannin activity in the species. An in vitro gas digestion technique was used to detect tannin activity. Treatment with or without polyethylene glycol PEG to 500 mg A. intrusa had been done. The result produced gas curves p0.05 of: a Gas ml -0.621 26.4691-e-0.0420t when no PEG was added and b Gas ml -1.84971.1861-e-0.0243t when PEG was added. There was a 45.3 tannin activity in A. intrusa at 24-hour incubation. The rates of gas production were proportionally about 0.73 higher with PEG treatment than without PEG.
