Abstract

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of varying levels of chicken manure and formulated inorganic nutrients on the performance and production of M. rosenbergii in a high density integrated culture system. The results indicated that a high density culture of M. rosenbergii juveniles 380-400 individual m-3 in fiberglass tanks was possible by installation of arti ficial substrate and control of nutrient concentrations in the system. The results showed that chicken manure alone was not able to increase plant productivity and support the optimum yield of M. rosenbergii. The composition of chicken manure and formulated liquid fertilizer increased total yields and did not show adverse effects on pH DO SPC salinity turbidity TDS and NH3 concentrations in the water. It can be concluded that chicken manure mixed liquid nutrients is a potential fertilizer for freshwater fish and prawn in integrated culture system.
