Abstract

According to Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia JMG reports Muadzam clay in Pahang has been identified to be highly potential for ceramic products. However the qualities of the clay are reported not consistent. This clay deposits can be value added with minimum processing with cost affordable to ceramic industries. These raw materials generally contain impurities such as iron oxide organic materials and others which may influence the quality of product produced. The study conducted on these raw materials includes characterization and the development of ceramic products such as earthenware stoneware and porcelain. This paper is about the current studies on possible production of ceramic products at Mineral Research Centre PPM.
