Suhaimizi Yusoff, . and Kamal Daril, . and Ab.Halim Hamzah, . (2009) Developing of Terengganu geochemical atlas using arcGIS software. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
About 85 of the State of Terengganu has been covered by regional geochemical sampling projects which started in early 1980s undertaken by Minerals and Geoscience Department. Interpretation and delineation of areas of minerals potential was done on project basis according to its objective. Extensive development in GIS techniques has made it possible for information to be presented in the form of element distribution atlas in a suitable scale for fast retrieval and to be used for different purposes. The geochemical atlas is a set of maps for visualizing distribution of elements from stream sediments. Other related information such as geology remote sensing and statistic parameter are also incorporated in the preparation of the atlas. In developing the atlas ArcGIS software was used in data analysis whereby the geochemical data was integrated with other data to delineate minerals potential areas more precisely As a result. a total of 17 elements distribution maps were produced and gold potential sectors were identified for further study.
