Abstract

Based on reconnaissance exploration work Malaysia has an estimated resource of some 148 Mt natural silica sand and about 33.5 Mt from Terengganu. For the deposit in Terengganu the SiD 2 range is broader 7.23 to 99.88. The basic idea in this study is to develop a suitable processing technology in the production of high quality silica material for use in various local industries. This involves screening grinding and other physical and chemical processing. According to the results. silica sand from Telaga Papan Terengganu can be upgraded to meet the specification for making crystal glass.
