Abstract

Amistar; active ingredient; azoxystrobin is a highly active strobilurin fungicide providing a broad spectrum of disease control on a wide range of crops. It has been evaluated extensively on a wide variety of vegetables and ornamentals under Asian field conditions. ;Amistar; at 125-250 mg ai/l showed very good control of anthracnose Colletotrichum sp. in onion resulting in significantly higher yield compared to the untreated control. The product also provided excellent control of purple blotch Alternaria porri on onion. On melons and cucumbers ;Amistar; at 125-250 mg ai/l showed broad spectrum activity that is rarely matched by other fungicide treatments. It provided effective control of downy mildew gummy stem blight and powdery mildew on cucumber. On ornamentals ;Amistar; is effective against white rust Puccinia horiana in chrysanthemum and black spot Diplocarpon rosae in rose at 62.5-250 mg ai/l. The control level was significantly better than the standards hexaconazole at 50 mg ai/l and oxycarboxinat 600 mg ai/I. Crop safety studies on a wide range of crops indicated that ;Amistar; applied alone at 125 to 500 mg ai/l or applied as tank-mixtures with insecticides did not result in phytotoxicity.
