Abstract

Thiamethoxam is a new second generation neonicotinoid with a unique structure showing outstanding biological activity. Thiamethoxam provides a very favorable toxicogical and ecotoxicogical profile which finally results in a reduced exposure risk for the consumer and applicator. Based on its physico-chemical properties thiamethoxam can be used in a very versatile way by foliar in soil and also as seed treatment. This univeral use together with its broad spectrum against sucking pests many Coleopteran and some Lepidopteran species will thiamethoxam allow to take a substantial place in many crops in sustainable pest management.
