Abstract

Thorny Stem Blight is a serious stem and collar disease of some tea clones in South India causing significant yield loss and plant mortality. Intensity ofharvesting plays an important role in disease incidence and spread. Root carbohydrate levels may affect disease incidence. The efficacy of fungicides - Carbendazim and Tridemorph - and usefulness of biological control agents like Trichoderma spp and Pseudomonas spp in prevention of the disease have been investigated. Various options for managing the disease are discussed.
