Abstract

The efficacy of using Trichogramma embryophagum and Bacillus thuringiensis bait for the control of the Asiatic corn borer Ostriniafurnacalis was investigated. Results showed that the biological control treatment had the highest marketable-ear rate of 83.8 and 86.9 in spring and fall cropping season of 1997 comparing to 0 and 38.1 and 0 and 6.1 for the chemical control and the check respectively. Similar results were obtained in 1998. Results suggested that applying B. thruingiensis bait and r embryophagum could enhance biological control of the Asiatic corn borer in the field.
