Abstract
The ability of an isolate of Beauveria bassiana Bals. Yuill to cause infection against second instar larvae of the diamondback moth DBM Plutella xylostella L. and the cabbage webworm CWW Crocidolomia binotalis Zeller was investigated. B. bassiana caused mortality in excess of 80 at concentrations above 2 x 106 spores per ml for both insect pests. However lethality was higher on CWW compared to DBM as indicated by a lower ED50 values for the former. In addition the LT50 values revealed that B. bassiana required a much shorter time to effect mortality on CWW compared to DBM especially at concentrations above 2 x 104 spores per ml.
