Abstract

Basal stem rot disease caused by Ganoderma boninense is the most destructive disease in oil palm plantations in Indonesia. Until now this disease is difficult to control one of the problems is little knowing of the disease epidemiology information. This research was carried out to know the host range of Ganoderma. The research result showed that the 60 Ganoderma isolates had successfully isolated from oil palm coconut palm betel nut sugar palm sago palm rubber acacia and forest wood DNA of Ganoderma isolates from oil palm coconut betel nut sugar palm and forest wood had restricted by Mlu I enzyme while DNA of Ganoderma isolates from sago palm rubber and acacia hadn;t. The pathogenicity of Ganoderma isolates from oil palm coconut betel nut sugar palm sago palm rubber acacia and the forest wood to oil palm seedling at 9th month after inoculation were 100; 100; 100; 66 7; 0; 0; 0 and 100 respectively. The Ganoderma isolates from coconut betel nut sugar palm and forest wood could be potentially as pathogen in oil palm. The study of Ganoderma epidemics like these was needed as the information for planting oil palm in new area.
