Abstract

With the aim of improving a propagation method for Eksotika papaya the effects of immature embryos IE stage on induction of somatic embryogenesis was studied. IEs from different stages of age were cultured in half strength MS added with 10 mg/l 2 4-D. Results showed that younger IEs produced high percentage of embryogenic callus compared to older IEs. IEs extracted from white seeds with solid endosperm produced up to 98 of embryogenic callus.
