Abstract

On-line high performance liquid chromatography coupled UV diode-array and electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy ESI-MS have was used to analyze the components in the antioxidant active fraction from the rhizome extracts of C. xanthorrhiza and Z. zerumbet. Three components were identified from C. xanthorrhiza including bisdemethoxycurcumin 1 demethoxycurcumin 2 and curcumin 3. The active fraction from Z. zerumbet consist of five components; kaempferol-3-0-rhamnoside 4 kaempferol-3-0-4-0-acetylrhamnoside 5 kaempferol-3-0-3 4-0-diacetylrhamnoside 6 kaempferol-3-0-2 4-0-diacetyl rhamnoside 7 have been unambiguously identified based on their Uz spectra and NMR spectrum with the data from previous work.
