Abstract

Evaluation on a progeny trial of 29 half-sibs families of Tectona grandis established in the Papulut Forest Reserve Gerik Perak was conducted. The progenies were taken from plus trees originating from FRIM sub-station in Mata Ayer Perlis. Height and diameter increments and survival rates at 24 months were evaluated. There was a significant difference in mean of height and diameter increment observed among the progenies. High variations on both survival and height and diameter increment were observed within and between the families. The environmental effects such as light and micro climatic conditions might have contributed to the high variations.
