Abstract

Phytochemical studies on the stem bark of Goniothalamus roseus resulted in the isolation of four styryllactone derivative which have been identified as dehydrogoniothalamin I 5-acetoxygoniothalamin 2 goniothalamin 3 goniotriol 4 and two alkaloids which has been identified as velutinam 5 and goniothalactam 6. The pure compounds especially 4 5 and 6 showed strong biological activity against Aedes aegypti and pseudogates of termites Schedorhinotermes sarawakensis.
