Abstract

Studies conducted on the methanol and water extracts of two varieties of Ficus deltoidea: Ficus deltoidea var terengganuensis and Ficus deltoidea var. angustifolia. The content of total phenolics flavonoids and tannins were determined spectrophotometrically and expressed as gallic acid equivalents GAE quercetin equivalents QE and catechin equivalents CE respectively. The polyphenolics contents were determined spectrophotometrically according to the Folin-Ciocalteu procedure. Results showed that methanol extract contain more phenolics flavonoids and tannins compared to the water extract. The obtained results will be used as a reference to the antioxidants studies. Phytochemical screenings on the leaves indicated the presence of saponin steroids triterpenoids flavonoids and tannins.
