Abstract

The objective of this research is to isolate cDNA clones which are involved during chilli fruits ripening. Two types of sscDNAs single stranded cDNA were synthesized from ripe and unripe chilli and used for screening the cDNA library of chilli fruits. 34 putatives ripening clones were isolated. These clones were subjected for secondary screening. From the secondary screening 20 clones were obtained. Then five clones were further characterized by sequencing from the 5; and 3; ends. These clones were sent for homology search and show homology to capsanthin-capsorubin synthase 1.2 kb glutathion S-transferase 0.5 kb embryo abundant protein 0.8 kb and unknown protein 2.3 kb. These clones were designated as CUKM2 CUKM3 CUKM4 CUKM5 and CUKM6 respectively.
