Abstract

The performance of Lansium domesticum cv. Dokong grafted onto seedling rootstocks of 10 cultivars of L . domesticum was evaluated in a randomized complete block design with 6 replicates in MARDI Research Station Jerangau. Growth of Dokong on seedling rootstocks of Duku Sawo Dokong Air Langsat Pinang Lanngsat Duku Dewan and Dokong Butir Dokong Biji were comparable with that on seedling rootstock of Dokong control. However rootstocks Duku Terengganu Duku Johor and Duku Tahi Ayam significantly reduced the growth of Dokong compared to the control. Hence based on their effects on the growth of the scion Dokong the seven former rootstocks can be classified as fast-growers and the three latter rootstocks classified as slow-growers. All rootstock types induced flowering of Dokong seven years after planting. Percentage of plants that flowered using these rootstock types ranged from 68 to 100 except for Duku Terengganu and Duku Johor where percentage of plants that flowered were relatively lower 18 and 33 respectively. The three slow -growing rootstocks induced low flowering efficiency with low inflorescence number / TCA trunk cross-sectional area ranging from 0.02 -0.4. Not all fast-growing rootstocks induced efficient flowering on Dokong as indicated by the wide range of inflorescence number / TCA of 0.26 -1.11.
